Description

The Tauwerk® DELIGHT is anything but an ordinary wheelchair wheel. It pushes the boundaries of what is possible a little further towards perfection. The aim of developing the first Tauwerk wheel was to produce the lightest and most beautiful wheelchair wheel in the world - without compromise and "Made in Germany".

Every component has been reengineered and conventional technologies have been “rethought”.

The main feature of all Tauwerk wheels are the patented spokes made from high-strength synthetic fibres. In addition to being ultra-lightweight and extremely durable, they have a vibration-damping effect thanks to their braided structure and are also absolutely unique in design. The spokes are manufactured, finished and assembled by hand in Germany.

The extremely stiff rims were developed together with the Austrian carbon rim specialist Xentis®. The result of the development are carbon rims that are unparalleled in the wheelchair sector when it comes to design, reliability and low weight.

The slim "first edition" hubs were manufactured in Germany from a high-strength aluminium alloy, blasted, anodised and laser-cut. The push rims are bolted axially to the rim at six points. The spacing can be adjusted to 7 mm or 14 mm using the corresponding spacers. This type of mounting results in a much more appealing, organic overall design than with the usual push rims. However, this variant also offers advantages in terms of strength, installation effort, push rim positioning and risk of injury compared to the mounting method with brackets.

High-quality chrome steel ball bearings from Enduro Bearings® are fitted as standard. The even higher quality ceramic bearings from the Danish ball bearing specialist CeramicSpeed® are available as an option. Ceramic bearings with their very hard and extremely wear-resistant rolling elements made of silicon nitride offer lower friction and an unrivalled service life compared to standard ball bearings.

A set of Tauwerk DELIGHT wheels weighs an extremely light 1010 g and always consists of a left and a right wheel. The rim, hub, labelling and spoking pattern are symmetrical to each other and create a harmonious overall look. #itsaboutthedetails

The "first edition" of the Tauwerk DELIGHT is defined by a fixed colour configuration of the individual components - red hub and push rim mounts, black spoke ends, cable spokes in black/natural braiding.

The optionally available Tauwerk axis with matching pusher made of anodised aluminium in the hub colour and with the Tau logo is the icing on the wheel cake. The axle partially shown in the pictures is for illustrative purposes only and is not included in the scope of delivery of the wheel set.

The total price always refers to a wheel set consisting of a left and a right wheel.

Note: The "first edition" wheels were intended as a limited edition from the outset. Only a few wheel sets are currently still available. There will not be a new edition of the "first edition" with the slim hub and the "first edition" rim decal.
